I can't tell you how many times I tried to catch the Royal Saudi Airforce Tornado. I would watch it on 360 radar doing test flights over the Irish Sea and head up to the Mach Loop the following days in the hope it would do low level test flights. After giving up the chase my friend Iwan Davies captured it along with some other flights in the loop here, Thank you Iwan.
I was in Desert Storm and I've got to express my appreciation for the contribution of the RAF and RSAAF Tornadoes. Knocked out a lot of stuff that we didn't have to fight against or for. I salute you, Tornado pilots.
Hats off the Tornado and so many years of service. I'd like to see a figure on the number of combat sorties that aircraft has flown over its lifetime. I do know it's a REALLY BIG number.
Love the Tornado! It’s my favorite RAF fighter. But like the F111 and F14 I guess the variable swept wing is expensive to maintain. Also I think that’s the first time I’ve seen the F16 on video in the Mach Loop! Awesome video Dafydd!
I built a beautiful 1/48 scale model of that Saudi Tornado GR4, same camouflage and everything, I love it. Also, I had a Canadian CF-130 Hercules low pass over my house a few years ago, I have pictures of it. I was down in the basement of my house and I heard this massive rumbling sound, shaking my house, it sounded like what it was, giant combustion engines roaring away. I went outside, I couldn’t believe how low he was, and he passed over twice, so I grabbed my camera.
